The Kenya National Museum

is on Museum Hill Rd. off of Uhuru Highway offers hours of enjoyment to tourists However, the museum closed for renovation 20 months, from October 2005 to July 2007, leaving only the Snake Park and Botanical Garden open to the public, pending further announcements.

The museum has many educating sections, one could easily spend all day there. Upstairs in the people section, displaying of the cultures of various tribes in Kenya. Also, the museum contains dinosaur fossils found in Kenya. 

The museum exhibits 10 old steam engines built between 1923 and 1955, as well as much material showing the history of Kenya as the railway helped it to develop.

One of the steam locomotives usually hauls a tourist excursion from Nairobi to Naivasha on the second Saturday of the month - and all-day outing which is great fun and highly recommended.
